This has been an ongoing project since 2004 and remains a work in progress.   It's an attempt to capture and preserve as much family information as possible for the future benefit of our family, our descendents, and of course any other  interested family members who wander in!  It includes 1st generation  grandparents having the family names Guthrie, Phillips, Hanks, and Comley.   2nd generation grandparents additionally having the names Paterson, Brechin, Auger, and Wolfe.  For generations beyond this please use the key below.

Realistically, the detailed genealogical research required has only come within the reach of most people in the last few years with the availability of census and BDM information online.  This has also opened up the possibility of  making contact with - and staying in close touch with - hitherto unknown  relatives.  Something which would have been almost unimaginable just 10-15  years ago!  I'm delighted to have made contact with 'new' relations as far  afield as Australia, Canada, England, New Zealand, Scotland, and the US and am indebted to them for the information they have already and continue to supply. Specifically my thanks to David, Diana, Eileen, Heather, Lesley, Lorna, Lynn, Megan, and Susie!

And for any relatives looking for a claim to fame, you might be interested to know that you're related - albeit fairly distantly - to Robert the Bruce, King of Scotland (1274-1329)!  (If you're interested, click on the link, then on his father, and then down through his brother Thomas's line which will eventually lead to the Snaddons - a well-known Alloa family that we had various links into).  Too regally esoteric for you?  Well then, you're also related to The Proclaimers!

Oct 2019 - Quite a large addition to the Auger side of the family - more to come.
Mar 2019 - A new Irish contingent added!  This is a branch connected to the Comley side of the family - comprising Murphy, Doyle, Keogh, Daly, and others - about 90 new ancestors so far.  My thanks to Susie for the connection.

Aug 2011 - Almost 200 new ancestors/relatives added.  These have been compiled over the course of the past few months but most recently a large Guthrie branch added together with a good collection of photos - my thanks to Duncan for all his help.
Sep 2010 - Added a new Todd branch (married into the Fife family at one point) of about 50 new individuals.  Also uploaded a couple of Todd gravestone photos.  My thanks to Elaine W. for all of these!  Added over 50 new names to the Penhorwood side of the tree. 
Aug 2010 - Various corrections made to Phillips tree.  Also newspaper clippings for 1861-1909 added to photos for Dawson and Paterson lines.  About 20 new names added on the Comley side of the family together with 5 photos - thanks Corrine!
Jun 2010 - Five new photos uploaded from relatives connected in or connected with the Sullivin family (decended from the Cook line that intermarried with Hanks).  Thanks again to Margaret.                       May 2010 - A new line of Cooks connected to the Hanks and 66 new relatives added - and 3 new photos.  My thanks to Margaret for all her help!
Apr 2010 - A bumper update over the Easter weekend.  More than 430 new relatives and ancestors added - mostly connected with the Allan family line.  My thanks to Heather for all her help!  Another 30 relatives added - mostly additions to the Condie line(s).  Many thanks to Dianne Keesler for all the information!
Mar 2010 - Another 30 or so relatives added (plus various corrections and updates) - mostly in the Phillips line.  Also 5 new Phillips photos added.  My thanks to Georgina and Richard Phillips for all their help.
Oct 2009 - More than 50 relatives added - mostly Ronald's and associated lines from Canada, New Zealand, and the US.
Sep 2009 - About 120 new relatives added.  Mostly Phillips from the south of England (or associated families such as Allcroft, Robinson, and von der Ahe) and Ronalds in the Glasgow area.  Death notice in local paper for Dudley Gleed (thanks Diana) and also photos of his and his wife's (Eileen Penhorwood Gleed née Phillips) grave stones at Catherington Church.  General update with some 65 new ancestors added and corrections made
Aug 2009 - Sarah Penhorwood Shutt's comments from her prayer book added to the photos (records her marriage to John Phillips and births of her children) together with a few newspaper clippings - many thanks to Diana E. for sending them.
Jul 2009 - Added photo of the new statue on the new Collylands roundabout near Alva - where Granny Guthrie grew up.
Jun 2009 - A new 'Oliver, Phillips and Shutt' photo album added with 28 pictures from that line of the family - my thanks to Diana Enser for sending them.  Approx 230 new relatives added!  A large collection/addition to the Archbold line - thanks to Lesley T. and David B. for their help and contributions and 'hello!' to 2 new relations!
Apr 2009 - More than 100 new relatives added.  Mostly Camerons, Westwoods, and a few more Brechins.  Thanks to David B. and Marie McGrory.
Mar 2009 - Added Alexander Brechin's honourable discharge papers from the Aberdeen Militia, dated 1802!  Thanks David!
Feb 2009 - More than 170 new relatives added.  Mostly Brechin's or connections to the Brechin line.  Many corrections also.
Jan 2009 - More than 120 new people added.  Mostly Brechins, O'Briens, and a large Archbold tree that married into the O'Brien line.  More than 100 new individuals added.  Mostly Brechins and the Adam/Stewart line that married into the Gordon family.  Also more Brechin photos uploaded.
